Bakhtiar carpet

Bakhtiar style carpets are woven in the province of Chaharmahal Bakhtiari.

The red and green colors of these rugs are different from other rugs and are specific to Bakhtiar rugs. The people of Bakhtiari were immigrants, collecting colored plants and painting lints with this plants. The extracts of these herbs were extracted and mixed with sour pomegranate seeds and natural dyes, the stability and longevity of these dyes being much more than chemical dyes. Bakhtiar carpets have black, blue, green, brown, red, yellow or orange colours.

All the colors were herbal 50 years ago. Brown, black and white are the natural colors of animals fur. Green color is made of jojoba, brown color - of walnut, red - of grape Leaf, yellow of pomegranate peel. The red color also comes from a particular insect.

The warp of these carpets is cotton but wool pile. that's why they are less weighty and softer. These rugs are very durable and have a very long life.

Motiffs of the carpets are often connected with flowers or animals.
