Bijar rug

It is woven in the city of Bijar in the Kurdistan region and its surroundings. It is one of the oldest carpets in Iran.

Woven specimens of this rug are found in museums around the world, produced in 1780. It was so dense that it couldn't be folded.

These rugs are very durable. Their designs were orderly.

The plans can be summarized as follows: Hunting - Flower - Tree - Fish - King Abbasi - Islamic - Lily and Majnoon - Flower and Nightingale and geometric designs

These carpets use warm and strong colors. In Bijar rugs are used red, indigo, white, green and orange colours.

There are the color difference in some parts of the carpet with other parts of the carpet. For example, in 1 carpet . red color may be different at the top and bottom of the carpet.

27 colors are used in Bijar rugs, but red, white and indigo are used more than others

The weight of these rugs is high. The carpets are also called Gross.The yarn used along the rug is made of cotton and the pile is made of wool.
