Persian classic hand-knotted carpet, made of natural wool. It is made in Hamadan. Yarns are coloured with natural dye. Hamadan carpets dates back to about 700 years BC and was traditionally called Hekmataneh. The designs of these rugs are often geometric and very close to Herat's designs.

Hamadan is a historical city of Iran. Hamadan carpets embody a rich cultural heritage based on centuries of tradition and craftsmanship that flourishes in the villages and towns of the region.

Hamadan rugs represent a diverse range of styles and techniques, each reflecting the unique characteristics of its place of origin. From the sophisticated designs of famous types such as Hosseinabad, Nahavand, to everyday 'Hamadan' rugs and simpler patterns, these rugs offer a wide range of choices to suit all tastes and budgets.

Traditionally, these rugs have been meticulously crafted using hand-woven yarns, a testament to the artisans' dedication to their craft. While modern options may include industrially produced yarn for cost efficiency, the essence of Hamadan craftsmanship remains deep in tradition.

Classic color combinations dominate these rugs, with indigo blue and dark red being the standout colors. Geometric motifs are common, although floral patterns also adorn these exquisite rugs, adding extra depth and sophistication.

Of particular note are the old Hamadan carpets, often called shahr-baf, which were made of superior quality and durability. These rugs, woven on cotton, are prized for their sturdy construction and are highly sought after by collectors for their historical significance.

While the traditional craftsmanship of Hamadan rugs is timeless, modern variations cater to modern tastes and needs. From traditional homes to contemporary interiors, these versatile rugs add warmth, character and elegance to any space. The threads are dyed with natural dyes. Hamedan carpets date back to around 700 BC and were traditionally called Hekmatane. An Iranian hand-made carpet made of wool with a cotton base. Similar weaving styles and designs are characteristic of the Hamadan region of Iran. Wool is natural, like most colors, and safe.
